THE TALE OF A SQUALL
The tale of a squall. It was mid-march afternoon, and I was in my second home on the outskirts. Anyways I would not like to call it a farmhouse because it sounds too pretentious. Suddenly the sky seemed gloomy. Never would have thought that something as simple as water would turn the sky so dark. These dark clouds started gathering at one place in the sky. It suddenly started pouring heavily.
…
I stood near the window enjoying the water droplets falling on my skin. The downpour started getting heavier with the thunderstorms. And now with the thunderstorms, there were squalls. With each squall, even the strongest trees were swaying in the violent wind and the leaves were rustling. In Chinese, they say that “the trees move to and fro in the wind because God is teaching them Tai Chi” using the wind.
…
Trees were standing in a row. Almost all trees had leaves on them, except one. That one tree was standing tall in a row with other trees and had no leaves on its branches. It swayed with other trees. I stood there wondering how it did not collapse when the squall hit it, even though it does not bear any leaves. Maybe because its roots are strong. Similarly, some people are like leaves, they play a role in your life for only some time. And some people are like soil, they are always there for you, providing you with nutrition. And your deep roots are your strength, your strength and your willpower will keep you moving forward in life no matter how many seasonal leaves came and dried off and left. No matter how many squalls you face you will stand strong because of your strong deep roots.
…
I hope you get as many people as nutritious soil and no matter how many squalls and thunderstorms you face you stand strong like God is teaching you, Tai Chi. And that you stop resenting all the people like those leaves that are shed from your life and keep moving on. I hope that you stand strong like a deep-rooted tree irrespective of the absence or presence of leaves.
