So here are a few ways of detoxing your mind and soul!

CUT OFF THE TOXIC PEOPLE

Cutting the harmful people out of life is important. Do you have anyone in your life who always makes you feel worse when you are around them? Even if it is your close one, there is no reason to keep a toxic person around you if the relationship is not benefiting you or making you happy. If they have no boundaries, add unnecessary drama or stress to your life, or affect your other relationships, cut them loose: They are cluttering up your mind and soul more than you even realize.

CLEAN YOUR CLOSET

Cleaning your space is important. Especially when you are stressed or frustrated, you must re-arrange your closet or shelves so that you can de-clutter the closet. It does not seem like getting rid of the physical clutter piled up on your desk, closet, and kitchen counter would do that much good in helping declutter your mind, but it does. After you have a clean space to spend your time in, you will no longer feel bogged down and stressed out by your surroundings. Your surroundings will make you feel lighter and more energized overall. Donate clothes you are not wearing anymore.

GO FOR A LONG WALK

With the chaos of everyday life, there is nothing relaxing like taking a long walk in nature. Research has shown how soothing it can be for your mind and soul. A 2015 Stanford study found something like a simple 90-minute walk or hike in a natural area made people feel happier and more relaxed, even reducing their risk of depression.

STOP USING YOUR PHONE AT LEAST 2-3 HOURS BEFORE GOING TO BED

Our phones tag along with us all day long. Are you ever anywhere without carrying it? To get some personal space and give your mind and soul the detox it needs. Set a time when you put your phone on airplane mode. With your phone put away on the charger in a separate room, you have the chance to simply be by yourself without any distractions. You will have a boost in your melatonin levels and can have a sound sleep.

TAKE A SOOTHING BATH

Taking a soothing bath, especially after a long and tiring day is enough. Sometimes taking a hot detox shower is simply giving your mind and your body the chance to wind down and relax. And what is a better way to relax and detoxify than a soothing bath?

LEARN TO MEDITATE

Do you know how beneficial meditation is? It helps you to relax and to combat stress and anxiety. When it comes to decluttering and detoxing your mind of anything that has been weighing you down, holding you back, or making you feel low, there is nothing better than a 10–15 minute meditation session for gaining some clarity and peace.

DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO ANYONE

Comparison is the thief of joy and satisfaction. It may happen when you are reading magazines, watching TV, and even scrolling through Instagram posts. The world does not do your mental health any good, so start focusing on the positive things that are what you love about yourself instead of crying about what you wish you had from others. Your soul will surely feel a lot fuller because of it.

SPEND SOME ALONE TIME IN SILENCE

When was the last time you sat alone in complete silence lost in your thoughts or enjoying alone time? Sometimes just enjoying being present is one of the simplest ways to declutter what has been going on in your head. Just sitting there doing nothing without a phone or any other digital gadget. Enjoy snuggling with your dog or cat while you are cozied up with your pet on the couch.

DELETE

If there are any apps on your phone that you think are harmful to your mental health just delete them. Whether it is seeing all those fake happy updates or the photoshopped images on social media, if they do not make you feel good, just ditch them. Similarly, delete the old pictures or send them to another file and empty your gallery. Call me crazy but sometimes formatting the phone also helps.

START READING

How long has it been since you have read my blog or a book? One way to declutter your mind and soul is to start nourishing your mind with things that benefit your mental health. Reading has not only been found effective in giving your brain a boost but also in reducing stress.
